THE FLOORS - JESUS LIVED SIX YEARS LONGER THAN KURT COBAIN
By the time this song fell into our laps Dead Elvis was quite broke and had begun to work out of Og’s flat in Phibsboro rather than from 147. Og was checking out tapes that were coming in the post and he was immediately into this song. He was a John Lennon obsessive when he was young and I guess the references to ‘I am the Walrus’ in the tune were music to his ears. I loved the pisstaking quality of it and the quite amazing production. Abba mixed with The Beatles and Nirvana. Fantastic. We hooked up with the band and started to organise a release.
This was the first song on the Floors’ ‘Superbe’ album. We had some, but not many, difficulties along the way to getting the album out on release. Once the band worked out we were a quite poverty stricken shoestring operation - things started to go smoothly. This should have been a hit record. It got a lot of radio play but we had literally not a penny to eat and buy fags let alone promote it when we got the CDs of the ‘Superbe’ album back from the factory.
